Math doesn’t have to be scary.
Brain research from researchers like Carol Dewick and Jo Boaler indicates that we all can learn math to a high level, and that we do so best when we treat math as a creative, visual, on-going process instead of the I’m-a-math-person-or-not approach that we so often encounter. Corey Math Tutoring is devoted to helping math students of all backgrounds activate the visual and creative connections in their brains that will make math a fun and engaging tool for problem solving.
Of course, the world of education is full of tests and rote work that makes math seem difficult and intimidating. Guided practice under test-taking conditions and proven test-taking strategies can help students find the confidence needed to overcome these hurdles with much less stress. Corey Math Tutoring is equally dedicated to supporting students in meeting these challenges.
About Corey
Corey Hopp earned his bachelor’s degree in Architectural Studies at Tufts University where he studied a combination of architectural design and architectural history. Working in the architectural field, the visual aspect of mathematics was always foremost in his work. He earned his Master’s Degree in Middle Childhood Education from the Relay Graduate School of Education in Manhattan and taught in middle and high-school classrooms for 5 years. It was during this time that he became interested in the improvement of math pedagogical methods that is going on around the world. He sought to introduce these methods in his classroom, and continues to bring this approach to working one-on-one with students.
